7 Great Tips to Stay Healthy While Working Out

Germs are everywhere!

We know that germs are everywhere. But gyms, locker rooms, and communal bathrooms can also expose you to infections because of shared equipment, towels, and mats. You can be exposed to some pretty gross stuff while working out, if you and your gym aren’t hygienic.

Various types of infections and even the flu are highly contagious and can spread via person-to-person contact, airborne droplets or coming into contact with other surfaces like equipment or locker rooms, that may not be as clean as you think.

7 Great Tips to Stay Healthy While Working Out!

Here’s how to stay healthy while working out. Do the following:

1. Disinfect the machines or equipment.

Make sure that the machine or equipment you’re about to come into contact with is clean. If you’re not sure, bring your own antibacterial spray or wipes and clean whatever surface area your body is about to come into contact with; handlebars, seats, cardio machines, and mats etc.

2. Use liquid soap.

This way you won’t have any

3. Never share towels.

No way! Why would anyone want to share a sweaty gym towel with someone else? Forget that! Bring your own towel to the gym.

4. Don’t go barefoot in the gym.

This is an absolute no no. You don’t know what’s lurking down there so always have your feet protected. You may also want to consider wearing flip-flops in the shower.

5. Bandage wounds.

If you have a wound, make sure it’s bandaged because you don’t want it to get infected, nor do you want to infect anyone else.

6. Always wash your hands.

It seems elementary, but even so some people don’t really practice good hygiene. So you need to protect yourself, since you’re not sure what you’re coming into contact with.

7. If you’re sick with the flu, don’t go to the gym.

You might be thinking that a good sweat might help you get rid of the flu faster, but think of the other people you might infect sweating it out at the gym. You won’t want someone to inhale droplets from your sneezing or coughing now would you.
